Replenishment strategies work better with Reddaway
Business inventories are sitting at 10-year lows. While tight inventory management provides cost control, it also creates the risk of lost sales because of inventory stockouts. For many retailers, their inventory strategy hinges on rapid replenishment from vendors.
When it comes to the transportation modes available to support this strategy, air cargo and parcel may be too expensive, and intermodal and truckload may be too slow or involve excessive inventory.
Fortunately, there's a flexible, reliable way to restock those shelves quickly and cost effectively. Expedited and guaranteed services from Reddaway deliver velocity and precision you can count on!
Reddaway provides guaranteed regional service for delivery before 9 a.m., before noon, and before 3:30 p.m. as well as Guaranteed Window Service with four levels of window delivery precision.
With our expedited and guaranteed solutions you:
- Improve your scheduling with dedicated tracking and proactive notification
- Enhance your business planning with shipment visibility and real-time email updates
- Find peace of mind with priority handling and guaranteed on-time delivery

News & Other Services
If you're an electronics distributor, you don't always get a lot of notice when a customer plans a special promotion. The customer wants product, they want it fast, and you need to accommodate them!
When John Regier, of O'Rourke Sales,, recently faced an unexpected increase in volume going to one customer, he knew he could count on Reddaway for responsive service.
"That happens typically," says John. "What's pretty rare, though, is to have a complete team effort. Usually, you get some good people, but not a full team." Mr. Regier explained that the project was too large for just one or two people to handle, and he worked with several drivers and dispatchers, prompting him to write a note of appreciation.
"I wanted to send you a quick note this morning on your team here in Denver, from Jim to Scott to Christina, Audi, Paul, Charlie, and not to leave anyone out, all drivers and the entire team. Thanks for your extraordinary efforts! I called without warning this morning at 7:30 to get started with more than 500 TVs I needed to get moving. [It's 9:15 a.m. and] we already have almost a full trailer loaded. Thanks very much." —John Regier, O'Rourke Sales Company
Delivering an exceptional customer experience
"I've never enjoyed work more. I love my customers, the guys at the terminal, even the crazy weather around here," says John Lopez, a Reddaway city driver domiciled in Denver.
"I think it's the people Reddaway hires. It's not just a job for us," he says. "We make friends with our customers; they're part of our lives. If a customer needs something, we do it, and try to go the extra distance. It's nice."
Born and raised in the Denver suburb of Lakewood, John's first job at Reddaway wasn't driving. "I started as a dock worker about 17 years ago," John explains. He goes on to say that after about six months he began training as a driver and became a hostler, moving equipment in the yard. "My manager encouraged me, and I kept going. Now, in addition to delivering in Boulder, I'm line-qualified and sometimes help out with runs to Western Colorado."
Over the past two years, John has put his driving skills to the test, competing in the Truck Driving Championships. In 2010, he brought home a first-place award in the state event and went on to compete at nationals.
"One of the guys talked me into competing; now, I'm hooked! We're already planning for next year." John adds that they practice on weekends. "Our service center manager, Jim Whitbread, comes in, sets up a course in the yard, watches how we're doing and helps out."
John is just one example of the people and service that keep customers coming back to Reddaway.

A Place Reddaway Calls Home
Nestled between Lake Washington and Elliot Bay in the Puget Sound region sits Seattle. Like all cities, Seattle has its share of must-see sights. The Experience Music Project, Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square and the Seattle Center, home to the 1962 Worlds Fair and its 605-foot Space Needle, are likely the most famous.
For those who live in the region, however, it's the easy access to mountains and water—and the recreational pursuits they offer—that make Seattle so special.
Drive east of the city, and you'll run right into the Cascades, the mountain range featuring the snow-capped volcanoes, Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens. Hike the Wonderland Trail, a 93-mile loop around Mount Rainier, and you'll see wildflower-filled meadows, ice-formed glaciers, old-growth forests and sparkling waterfalls. Of course, come winter, heavy snowfalls make the Cascades ideal for downhill and cross-country skiing.
Drive west to the Olympic Peninsula, and you'll discover the rainforest of Olympic National Park where trees tower 200 feet above the forest floor. Or hike the glacier fields of Mount Olympus.
Farther north, you'll find the San Juan Islands. Although there are more than 170 islands, only about 70 are populated. A favorite place for artistic inspiration and relaxation, the islands provide a backdrop for kayaking, some of the best saltwater fishing in the lower 48, and catching a glimpse of seals, otters, bald eagles and whales.
Since 1979, Seattle is a place Reddaway calls home. "We have one of the largest pickup and delivery service areas in the Reddaway network," says Greg Couper, service center manager. He adds that a lot of their pickup and delivery work is appointment-driven, requiring precision from the time the shipment is scheduled.
The 117 dock-door facility provides next-day service into all of Idaho, Oregon and Washington, and most of Montana, creating some interesting challenges for drivers. "We're about an hour from the mountain pass, and we are in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains," explains Greg. "And then there are the frequent heavy rains."
Despite the conditions, Reddaway is known for getting the job done. "There have been times when our competitors have shut their doors because of the weather. Our approach is to stay open and make alternate travel plans," says Greg.
Bring this commitment to service to your shipping activities. It's as simple as calling our Customer Care Group at 1-888-420-8960 or going online to reddawayregional.com.

Supply chains seen as key to retail growth and savings
According to Casey Chroust, executive vice president of the Retail Industry Leaders Association, "The strategic emphasis has shifted from last year's focus on cost control to a more balanced perspective between cost and service and revenue growth." He goes on to say retailers and their supply chain organizations are "really focusing on growth-oriented supply-chain issues." The association’s recent study on the "State of the Retail Supply Chain" points to returning emphasis on infrastructure capacity and the importance of supply-chain management.
Columbia River deepening project completed
Authorized by Congress and initiated in 2005, the project to deepen the Columbia River by three feet is complete. At a depth of 43 feet, the channel now provides improved access to the ports of Portland and Vancouver for shippers in the Pacific Northwest that rely on the water route.
