Reddaway Central Division Safety Manager Mike Kolb, based in Sacramento, California was presented with the California Trucking Association (CTA)’s 2018 Fleet Safety Professional of the Year award. This honor recognizes truck fleet safety managers whose accomplishments are truly outstanding. The award promotes the highest standards on fleet safety programs as well as the qualifications and performance of safety professionals in the commercial vehicle transportation industry.
The 2018 Fleet Safety Professional of the Year award was presented in Sacramento during the CTA’s annual Fleet Safety Awards held April 3, 2019.
Kolb, a thirty-five-year Reddaway employee, is based in Sacramento, California. His Reddaway career began as a dockworker. His next accomplishment was to become a professional Reddaway city driver. He held this position for over twenty accident-free years before joining our Safety Team.
“We congratulate Mike Kolb on this premier achievement,” said Reddaway President Bob Stone. “We are honored and thank the California Trucking Association for selecting Mike Kolb as the 2018 Fleet Safety Professional of the Year. His dedication toward safety and his professionalism are representative of what makes Reddaway the industry-leader it is today.”
Stated Kolb, “2019 is Reddaway’s centennial. One hundred years is a long time to be an industry-leader. I’m blessed to have been an employee here for the past thirty-five of those years. It has been a rewarding time. I enjoy improving safety at Reddaway. We are influencing behavior by changing the culture and reducing accidents and injuries. My number one goal is to see our employees return home safely to their families. I’m honored to have been presented with this respected award. It is a privilege to stand here today. Thank you very much for this high honor and acknowledgment.”
During the evening’s ceremonies, Reddaway was also presented with a second place in the Short Haul LTL Local/General Commodities over four million miles category, and a third place in the LTL/General Commodities Line Haul over seven million miles category.
“It is a tremendous honor and tribute to Reddaway drivers, our safety team, dispatchers, terminal and linehaul managers to reach this level of recognition,” stated Robert Norris, Reddaway VP of Safety and Labor Relations. “This was a true team effort. Congratulations to Team Reddaway for placing safety as a top priority.”
Reddaway is a proud supporter of the CTA’s efforts to improve safety on California’s highways and byways. In 2018, Reddaway trucks drove over 46 million combined miles on California roadways. This year’s CTA Fleet Safety Awards received over fifty applications submitted. An independent judging panel, comprised of both civic and governmental transportation authorities, examined impressive data, and progressive safety and driver incentive programs to select this year’s winners.
All safety award winners will be recognized by the CTA in a special edition of Caltrux, the California Trucking Association’s monthly magazine published for members. The California Trucking Association promotes leadership in the California motor carrier industry, advocates sound transportation policies and works to maintain a safe, environmentally responsible and efficient transportation system for more than 350,000 trucks in California.
