CLACKAMAS, Ore., Dec. 19, 2016 – Reddaway is proud to have earned the 2017 Military Friendly® Employer designation by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, STEM Jobs(WM), and Military Spouse. First published in 2003, Military Friendly® Employers is the most comprehensive, powerful resource for veterans today. Reddaway is committed to hiring and building career successes for members of the military.
Victory Media named Reddaway a 2017 Military Friendly® Employer in its most recent listing of companies that go above and beyond in their efforts to employ members of the military and their families. The 2017 Military Friendly® Employers and Schools lists are available online and have been printed in the December issue of G.I. Jobs®, the January 2017 issue of Military Spouse Magazine, and in the Guide to Military Friendly® Schools.
The Military Friendly® brand is nationally recognized as being the original, trusted source on post-military education and employment options for veterans and military families.
This recognition is the latest in a number of honors earned by Reddaway related to the company’s long-standing commitment to support veterans and their families.
Reddaway is committed to hiring military talent, knowing first-hand that their skills and character are a perfect match for the needs of the transportation industry.
“The success of any military operation requires moving people and equipment from one point to another with precision, safety and timeliness,” explains T.J. O’Connor, CEO and President of Reddaway. “That’s exactly what we do every day. In addition to a close match in skills, the military also requires many of the same personality traits that we look for, including self-leadership, team focus, reliability, a focus on safety and a sense of mission. Team Reddaway is proud to recruit veterans to join our transportation professionals. We are proud to be named a Military Friendly Employer.”
In addition to a focused effort to find and recruit veterans, Reddaway supports veterans and their families in cooperative activities with veteran-support organizations, company events recognizing veterans, and even apparel available to Reddaway employees identifying them as past members of the military.
The Victory Media selection process evaluates each company’s efforts related to veterans in three categories:
- Engages in active outreach through veteran recruiting events and programs
- Provides veteran employees with the training and support needed to succeed
- Offers veterans meaningful employment
“Companies that have earned the 2017 Military Friendly® Employer designation have exceptionally strong hiring programs and meaningful jobs for transitioning service members, veterans and spouses,” said Daniel Nichols, a Navy Reserve veteran and Chief Product Officer at Victory Media. “Our Military Friendly® Employers have moved beyond answering ‘why hire military?’ They are truly aligning their jobs and recruiting efforts with Military Friendly® Schools to translate military competencies into civilian careers.”
The company also participates in FASTPORT, a program created by the trucking industry in cooperation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes Foundation to educate, hire and inspire military veterans. Reddaway has committed to hiring 160 veterans.
We also proudly partner with the United States Army in the Partnership for Youth Success program (PaYS). Through this program, soldiers select a PaYS partner, like Reddaway, during their enlistment process. The soldier is guaranteed an interview when they complete their training and/or first term of service. Reddaway has the opportunity to mentor these individuals on resume development and interviewing skills, and help them build better qualifications as they transition to private employment. Employer participation and commitment are key to the program’s success.

About Military Friendly® Employers: The Military Friendly® Employers list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for thousands of federal contractors nationwide, input of military employees, and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Employers survey from participating companies. The survey questions, methodology, criteria and weightings were developed by Victory Media with the assistance of an independent research firm and an advisory council of educators and employers. Data calculations and tabulations were independently evaluated for completeness and accuracy by EY. The survey is administered for free and is open to companies that have hired veterans in the past 12 months. Criteria for consideration can be found at: https://militaryfriendly.com.
