Reddaway was singled out by the California Trucking Association (CTA) as 2017’s top carrier at its annual Fleet Safety Awards event on April 4. Reddaway earned the honor in the LTL/General Commodities Linehaul – Over 7 Million Mile category. The award was based on Reddaway’s outstanding record of safe driving, combined with on-going safety-related programs that demonstrate the company’s commitment to achieving high levels of safety in its operations.
“We work hard to ensure that every Reddaway employee has the skills and knowledge to drive and work safely,” said Carl Hicks, Reddaway Vice President of Operations. “The best payoff for those efforts is the safety of our employees and the drivers who share the road with them. But it’s also great to earn industry recognition like this award for our efforts. Thanks to every Reddaway employee who puts safety first every day.”
Reddaway traveled almost 27 million linehaul miles on California highways, with a collision frequency rate of just 0.33 per million miles traveled. That performance was less than half of 2016’s rate of 0.77 per million miles.
In addition to looking at Reddaway’s safe driving record, the CTA also considered the company’s safety program documentation, injury & illness prevention program, drug & alcohol program, hiring/training programs, driver recognition & awards programs, safety measurement systems, out-of-service vehicle and driver rates, and Compliance, Safety, Accountability scores.
